It is my privilege, on behalf of th eBoard of Directors of Chamber Music Kelowna, to welcome you to the 2011-2012 concert season. In this 32nd year we bring you a program of outstanding artists of international reputation arranged by our outgoing Artistic Director, Sylvie Lange. The Board extends our great appreciation and thanks to her for her talent, hard work and enthusiasm over the past years. We are pleased to announce that Artistic Direction and Programming will continue with the appointment of Lorna Paterson and Charles Schneider. They bring a long record of experience and contribution to the arts in Western Canada, and music education and promotion in our community. Please review their biographies under 'Artistic Direction'.
In addition to presenting our evening concerts, we continue to promote classical music in the community through our Outreach Program and as scholarship sponsors. This season is an ambitious one, and includes three outreach presentations, master classes, plus collaboration with UBC Okanagan in their Minds and Music Concert Series. As well, CMK has sponsored another commissioned work, which will be featured as a world premiere performance in the last concert of the season.
I thank the City of Kelowna Arts Foundation, Canadian Heritage and MusicFest Vancouver, for continued grant support, and the Rotary Club of Kelowna Ogopogo for generous support of CMK outreach. I am grateful to those who have made donations and have been added to our Patrons List and ask that you support CMK in the coming year with a tax deductible donation. I also thank all our subscribers and audience for making this concert season a success.
In closing, I remind music enthusiasts of the Cheers for Chamber Music Fundraiser to be held at Gallagher's Canyon Golf and Country Club, Sunday afternoon, May 6, 2012, where you will be treated to lunch, and a superb classical guitar concert.
It is my wish that live performance brings you joy.
