Jasper Wood, violin
An acclaimed competition winner, Jasper Wood made his orchestral debut at 13. He has performed extensively throughout North America as a soloist and chamber musician. Recent performances have taken him from Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall to Washington, New Jersey, Halifax, Montreal, Toronto, Winnipeg, Vancouver, and Italy. Wood has world-premiered many works for the violin and is active in the commissioning and discovering of new music. Under the sponsorship of the Canada Council for the Arts, he has had the opportunity to work and perform with outstanding musicians of our time. In 1996, Jasper Wood won the distinguished Sylva Gelber award, honouring Canada's most promising young Classical musicians. Jasper has been heard on NPR, CBC Radio, and Bravo TV.

“Here is another discovery – he is a fine interpretive artist, captured in a virtually unblemished recording which is acoustically just right”.
- International Record Review (April 2000) of Wood’s CD, “13 Caprices” (Analekta-FL2-3149)

He is a founder of Alban Classical, an organization that produces music, and performs concerts throughout the north of B.C. in schools and communities. He can be heard on CBC radio and TV.

“Simon Cole has every ability and quality a musician could want."
