The Aspen String Trio is one of the rare professional string trios performing and touring today. As summer faculty colleagues at the Aspen Festival and School in Colorado, these artists have been playing together for more than twenty years.
Violinist David Perry is an Artist-in-Residence at the University of Wisconsin and is first violin in the Pro Arte Quartet. He served as concertmaster of the Chicago Philharmonic Orchestra and has recorded a number of violin concerti. Victoria Chiang, violist and recording artist was on faculty at the Juilliard School and Hartt School of Music, and is on faculty at the Peabody Conservatory of Music. Cellist Michael Mermagen is Associate Professor of Cello at the University of Missouri Kansas City Conservatory He has toured with the Aspen Ensemble, American Chamber Players and Arista Piano Trio.
Aspen String Trio engagements include performances with the Los Angeles Music Guild and the National Gallery of Art, as well as residencies in Texas, Georgia, the Carolinas, Alabama, Delaware, Washington and Colorado. For six seasons the Aspen String Trio was Ensemble-in-Residence at the University of Baltimore. The Aspen String Trio has recorded music of Mozart, Beethoven and Strauss, as well as the complete string trios and other works by Martinu, on the Naxos Label.
