The Borealis String Quartet is known to audiences for its scintillating, beautiful playing. This quartet has a “combination of superb musicality and impressive technique”- the Winnipeg News. Touring North America, Europe and Asia to sold-out audiences, the Borealis String Quartet wows audiences in live performances and with its critically acclaimed recordings. This quartet served as String Quartet-in-Residence at UBC for many years and later at Kwantlen University.  Founded in Vancouver, the Borealis works closely with commissioned composers, notably the renowned Okanagan composer, Imant Raminsh. In this concert the Borealis String Quartet will perform one of Imant Raminsh’s compositions, with the composer present.

Kelowna’s much-loved pianist, Arnold Draper will join the quartet to perform two piano quintets. He  performed extensively in Britain as a soloist and chamber musician and for the BBC Radio/TV and British Commercial Television. For many years, he was on the Cardiff University faculty and performed in Europe, the United States and Canada. Arnold Draper has performed with the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra, Ballet Kelowna, Trio Accord, Alexandra Babbel, Candesca and others. He is active as a composer and served as organist and choir director at St. Michael’s Anglican Cathedral. Arnold Draper received the Scorpion Award for Classical Musician of the Year and the Arts Council Lifetime Achievement Award.
