Individual Biographies
Min-Young
Kim, violin
A graduate of Harvard University and the Juilliard School, Min-Young
Kim made her New York recital debut at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie
Hall in January 2001 as winner of the Artists International Competition.
Her strong commitment to contemporary music has led to numerous
premieres in the New York and Boston areas, and at new music festivals
in Spain and Greece. She is currently on the chamber music faculties
of Columbia University and the School for Strings in New York.
Kyu-Young Kim, violin
Hailed by the Chicago Tribune for his “flawless musical and
technical command,” Mr. Kim is an award winning soloist and
chamber musician. Educated at the Curtis Institute and the Juilliard
School, Mr. Kim has been soloist with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra,
of which he serves as Associate Concertmaster, and the Amadeus Chamber
Orchestra of Poland. A former member of the Pacifica Quartet, with
which he won a Naumburg Chamber Music Award, he has presented solo
recitals throughout the United States, Japan, Germany, and New Zealand.
Jessica Thompson, viola
Until joining the Daedalus Quartet in 2002, Jessica Thompson was
a member of the Chester String Quartet, resident ensemble of Indiana
University where she served as Associate Professor. She has been
soloist with the Minnesota Orchestra and performed in recital in
Philadelphia, Minneapolis, and Washington, D.C, and at the Isaac
Stern Memorial Concert at Carnegie Hall. She has spent summers at
the Marlboro Music Festival and tours with Musicians from Marlboro.
Raman Ramakrishnan, ’Cello.
A graduate of Harvard University and The Juilliard School, Raman
Ramakrishnan has given solo recitals in New York and Boston and
performed chamber music at Alice Tully Hall, at Bargemusic, and
at the Marlboro, Charlottesville and Four Seasons Chamber Music
Festivals. He will tour with Musicians from Marlboro in the 2002-2003
season.
