One of the most dynamic and exciting ensembles of its generation, the Borealis String Quartet has received international critical acclaim for its fiery performances, passionate style, and refined, musical interpretation.


Established in 2000, the Borealis tours extensively in North America, Europe and Asia, peforming to sold-out audieces in New York, Washington, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Rome, Mainz, Shanghai, Taipei, Beijing, Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and Vancouver.  Recent performances of the Beethoven Series at the Metropolitan Museum in New York and at the Illsley Ball Nordstrom Hall in Seattle were critically acclaimed.  Close ties with Asia result in yearly tours in Taiwan.



In the course of a multi-faceted career, Arnold Draper gave solo recitals and chamber music concerts throughout Britain, and performed for BBC Radio/TV and British Commercial Television.  From 1974-1989 he was a teaching and performing member of the music faculty at Cardiff University, Wales.

He has performed with the OSO, Chamber Music Kelowna, Ballet Kelowna, the Borealis String Quartet and Vancouver’s Trio Accord.  He continues to accompany, perform and coach at the Vahalla Summer School of Music and at the Gabriola Island Chamber Music Retreats.
