The members of the New Orford String Quartet are concertmasters and principal cellist and violist in the Montreal, Detroit and Toronto Symphonies.  Champions of Canadian works, the New Orford String Quartet regularly programs contemporary and commissioned works in their concerts, with repertoire spanning 225 years. The quartet tours the major cities of North America as well as bringing their performances to smaller centres and rural communities that may not otherwise hear chamber music.

The quartet gives annual concerts for national CBC broadcast, receiving unanimous critical acclaim including two Opus Awards for Concert of the Year. Recent seasons have featured return engagements in Chicago, Montreal and Toronto, as well as their New York City debut on Lincoln Center’s Great Performers Series.

The Quartet’s internationally acclaimed debut album of the final quartets of Schubert and Beethoven was nominated for a Juno Award in 2012. Critics described it as “…flawless…a match made in heaven!” Their next recording of the Brahms Quartets Op. 51 won the 2017 JUNO Award for Best Chamber Music album. The New Orford String Quartet is Artist in Residence at the University Club of Toronto.
